19 Jul Abdul Latif Jameel General Trading Co. Ltd. and Melody International Begin Business Collaboration Focusing on the Middle East
Abdul Latif Jameel General Trading Co. Ltd. and Melody International, Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for business collaboration on sales and marketing activities of the “Remote Mobile Fetal Monitor” in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
The major feature of the Remote Mobile Fetal Monitor is that it enables remote medical checkups for pregnant women utilizing ICT technology by easily and accurately measuring the fetal heart rate and uterine contraction, which are important for knowing the health status of the fetus and the pregnant woman, anytime and anywhere. The system has already been introduced at various medical facilities in Japan. Its practicality and effectiveness have been demonstrated in various clinical settings, such as partial replacement of regular checkups for pregnant women living on islands or in remote areas, monitoring of pregnant women at risk who require frequent examinations, and data linkage between core hospitals and ambulances or doctor helicopters during emergency transport.
Melody International’s remote mobile fetal heart rate monitors, which have the same functionality as the large and very expensive fetal heart rate monitors currently in common use, but at a lower price and are portable, are expected to provide significant value in improving healthcare disparities and access to healthcare. In cooperation with Jameel, we will support the spread of remote prenatal and postnatal checkups in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, aiming to reduce perinatal mortality and create a sustainable healthcare environment in the region.
